This work can be found in Rotterdam North in the Agniese neighborhood, on Vrouw Janne Straat. This project is particularly special to me, as it draws inspiration from the rich history of the area.
In the early 1300s, this region was owned by Mr. Bokel, whose legacy still lives on here. The neighborhood is named after his daughter, Agniese, who also had a daughter named Janne hence, the street’s name: Vrouw Janne Straat. I wanted the mural to capture a connection to this past while bringing a vibrant, contemporary touch to the area.
The chosen color palette adds an Oriental flair to the piece, complementing the historical narrative with a sense of warmth and depth. I hope this artwork brings a new layer of character to the neighborhood, celebrating both its heritage and diversity.
A special thank you goes to Nina Valkhoff for the unforgettable moments during this project and Johannes Ode, Martine Kiers for the Photography.
